So last week the blouse part of the overall outfit was free, and this week we’ll make the overalls. BUT again, get it today, because it will disappear tomorrow!
The expanded version of the pattern, available all at once in my etsy shop right now, also includes the blouse with a puffed sleeve variation, a skirt to make the overalls into a jumper AND an additional set of pattern pieces sized for slim dolls like Sasha/Kidz n Cats/Girl for All Time/Kathe Kruse.
Yes, there’s actual chicken scratch in her bucket and scattered around her to encourage the chickens to be in the picture. As you can maybe tell by the less-than-perfect quality of this photo, it’s harder to photograph a flock of chickens than you’d think! 🙂
Exciting news from
Maru is holding a design contest on Wren*Feathers and one other blog. They will choose one winner from each blog. Details below:
Designers your time has come! Calling all creative people to design an outfit for Maru and Friends. We are looking for the best of the best in the hopes of finding a new Fall/Winter outfit for our dolls. All fabric types are welcome. The contest will run for forty five (45) days, until May 8, 2015
, with readers being able to submit up to three (3) original designs. One (1) winner will be picked at the end of the contest period and will be featured on the Maru and Friends social media pages. The winner will also be awarded a $150 designer’s fee* and the possibility of the outfit being a new addition to the Maru and Friends clothing collection. Designers are asked to submit designs to firstname.lastname@example.org
*Maru and Friends will retain all rights to the design with the acceptance of this payment
1. These must be your original designs
, since you’ll be signing over design rights if you win, so sewing something exactly from my patterns to enter in the contest is not allowed. Using them as slopers to help draft something unique for this contest is OK as long as you’ve changed them enough that they’re your own
designs. Patterns available here
2. I am not affiliated with Maru, and all I know about the contest is what they’ve sent me to post here, so any questions about contest specifics should be directed to them at the email above.
Well, this pattern was more difficult to figure out than I had anticipated, but I did promise it would be free… So today you can download (FREE!) the blouse part of the overall outfit you voted for a few weeks ago. BUT make sure to download it today, because it’s going to disappear tomorrow! Next week we’ll make the overalls.

What? You want a pattern for this week too? Ok, fine… 🙂
Remember when we did shoe school last spring? (If not, scroll down to find those links) I said that sewn shoes get made as “innies” or “outies” and there was another type called “lasted” which are named for the way they’re made – on lasts.
This tutorial will show you how to make the lasts, patterns, and shoes for any doll .
There’s also a pattern for a sewn version using any method from the previous shoe tutorials for Maplelea.
